[…] Accardi’s painting has moved even closer to a plastic magma capable of continual mutations.
Even if stretched out, it is a continual process of becoming that precipitates onto canvas, but also onto walls and floors, tiles and vases, books and theatre curtains, so as to unite her script to the body of thing and settings. A continual return to the calling of an antipainting (“I have always used painting as an expression of non-painting; it is a desire for contradiction”) that instead becomes a form of inquiry into the real world.
G. Celant, Carla Accardi. La vita delle forme, Silvana Editoriale- Zerynthia 2011, p.15

"The work is a fantasy that offers itself publicly, pointing to the presence of beauty, imagination and the possibility of the joy that can be found in art. It is a presence that recalls, both through the unconscious and through the cultural heritage of history, an ancient dream of refined pleasures, in a distant age when art and nature were able to not be in conflict".
1981, Carla Accardi
